Elm leaf beetles- Help!!

Does any one know how bad they are this early in the year? When I noticed them last year, late summer/early fall, I read later infestation are not so bad, but they are back and I fear for the tree as it was stressed last year by construction. I would hate to have it sprayed (not a big chemical fan) and wonder what good it would do if it is like this all over N.E. Ga.

Elm leaf beetles are being effectively controlled with a strain of the bacterium Bacillus thuringiensis. Bt strains have been used for generations to control caterpillars (Bt-K) and mosquito and fly larvae (Bt-I). This strain is Bt-T (tenebrionsis).

Call your local extension office for some localized information on ELB outbreaks in your state. You could also call some ISA Certified arborists just to ask if they have been getting calls.
