Time to sink this one. I think I'm the only grower of Bottlebrush on the forum. I have, however, sent out thousands of seeds for it, so I expect to be hearing more from this delightful grass.

Donn, you are not the only grower of bottle brush. It's just that I shake my head everytime they reclassify & rename something. It doesn't even look like an Elymus!
oh well .. just something else to give my brain a little exercise :O) thanks for the update ....

Well, I got some seed from the New England Wild Flower Society under the name Elymus hystrix, and it has germinated nicely. But I haven't figured out where I'm going to put it. I gather it will take some shade -- any suggestions for what kind of spot it likes?

It likes anything except hot dry full sun. I have it in moist and dry mostly shade, and in moist full sun, and it does just fine. It's a cool season grower, and will go dormant in hot dry full sun.

Thanks donn, I've got mostly part sun to shade, so I should have no problem.
