We had some neighbors who installed a motion sensored sprinkler system and havn't had troubles in years.

I spray with Liquid Fence.

I learned the hard way that there are plants that, sooner or later, meet their ultimate demise from deer - asters, rudbeckia, pansies, and lilies come to mind. I watched a buck in full daylight chomp 2 perfect Casablanca lilies to the ground. I sure liked those lilies. Liked the asters too.

A friend said she had good luck fertilizing with Milorganite but my deer just waded right through it to nibble my Turk's Cap lilies down to the ground.

The only thing I've ever had work is Liquid Fence.

I have taken to putting wire cages around everything. I have used Liquid Fence in the past, but it seems to me, that it damages foliage, especially in sun. Now thats just my experience, doesn't mean it isn't effective for others. Not only are deer a problem with their browsing, but they can make a big mess with their rubbing too!

I have a Kay Parris magnolia that I planted in the fall that was looking very nice until a male found it and reduced it to rubble. To add insult to injury they are constantly browsing the regrowth! I also had the same thing happen to a Phyllis Barrow magnolia about 15 years ago. A male broke off the entire top!
