I sure wouldn't throw them out. My guess is it probably still has something to do with the thrips. This was my first year dealing with those little buggers, and they did some awful damage to the blooms. Someone suggested using a systematic (since the thrips were inside the blooms). In other words, spraying the outside would do no good. I hate using pesticides, but the systematic did fix the problem with deformed blooms within a week. Do you have any pictures?

I don't have any pictures. The new leaves that are coming up look more like the leaves on tulips that are past their prime than they look like daylily leaves. Considering how deformed the blooms were in early summer, this seems to fit the general problem of thrips. I'll try a systemic. I don't use pesticides either, but I'm willing to use them for the daylily problem. Thanks for replying and letting me know what to do. Do you remember what you used?

I couldn't remember but found the bottle. It's Bayer Advanced Garden- All in One Rose & Flower Care. This has fertilizer in it also, but couldn't find anything else without it at the time...Says it lasts for up to 6 weeks. I've got the 32 oz. which I think was about $12 at Lowe's. You mix it with water in your watering can and pour it around the base of the plants. I guess I should probably do this again soon also.....I'll definatly be using it next year when they're first starting to send up scapes.
