Oh great....Emily?? I hadn't heard a thing about another tropical depression being out there. I guess I should watch the news more often...

They briefly mentioned Emily on the news this morning. When Dennis dies down, everybody will start talking about Emily.

4"???? My meters were overflowing in the deep shade at 10" of water. I suspect we recieved 12" at my home. The river is still running in my back yard from run-off of the 6 houses with property higher than mine.

Yes, the weather channel's site does say that some areas of Atlanta got 10 inches or more.

We are in Woodstock. I guess we were fortunate to "only" get 4 inches. I'm sorry to hear you got so much, GGG! Hope it gets better soon.

I have been out "happily" pulling weeds several times today. It does make for easy work.

i had more than 5 inches in my basement!! aaaaaaaaargh. my maters are barely hanging on. i don't know what i am going to do. i thought about going out there with the blower between rains and dry things out a bit but with no sun shine, guess it wouldn't help..........

I have my tomatoes in an earthbox with a soil cover and they are still turning yellow at the bottom and some are splitting.

We were fortunate that Dennis only dumped about 3" on us, but that 3" is standing on top of the soil most places since Cindy had already saturated the soil. don't know how much exactly we got from her since I didn't actually buy a rain gauge until after Cindy.

GGG you have a rain gauge that holds 10" ? mine only goes to 5 or 6 I think. I can't even imagine what your yard must look like after all that rain. I couldn't even sleep last night I was so worried about how much we were going to get. I would never make it in Florida or other hurricane prone areas. This stuff stresses me out.

Gonna be soggy around here for quite a while! My basement was flooded yesterday as I received around 8.50" over the 10th and 11th combined. I was watching the radar and it showed that really long, narrow band of heavy rain stretching from the Florida panhandle almost to Tennessee! Those of us to the west of downtown Atlanta got repeatedly drenched with what they call a "train" pattern of rain.

I have a rain gauge that only measures 5" but will hold a little more than that. At 5am yesterday, I fell awake to the sound of pouring rain, which made me worry that my gauge was overflowing. I got up at just the right time because it was already over 5" and very close to the top! I emptied it at 5:20am and by 7:55am it had another 3"! All told, from what fell on the 9th through yesterday I got exactly 9". For the first 11 days of July I have had 12.67" of rain. We are on a pace to break the record for July set in 1994.

Not exactly sure how much rain we got over here near Grant Park but I found a bunch of my raised beds had been washed to the other side of the garden (down the slope).

Also, the vine borers got another zucchini since I wasn't able to get out there to spray. I sprayed last night but it seems that all of that might be washed away again.

This is my 1st year veggie gardening and it's disheartening. Well at least I can blame something on mother nature rather than my brown thumb.
