I think that the fruits are typically the same size. Figs seem to do OK here, prefer z8a to z7b. Mine were frequently burned by late freezes, as I live at the bottom of a short hill. Others around town get to be pretty big.

We have a fig in our church garden. I have no idea what kind it is, but the frost actually did it good!! It froze off all the tips and early fruits, and then the tips of the tree branched a bit - we probably have 4x the fruit on that thing!

I have a different kind of fig planted. Probably Italian Honey Fig. It has been hardy in a container for 2 years, so I think it will be fine in the ground. Jayman has one too, but I have not heard from him in a long time.

There are probably more hardy figs, it is just finding them. I don't know how much fig searching and cultivation is going on. Maybe Eddie knows. Eddie, you out there?

I was at the Botanical Garden this weekend and the big fig tree they have at the side of the building has some good size fruit on it. Unfortunately there was no one around to ask what variety it was. The second of my celestes seems to have been affected in a similar manner to yours. It has become much bushier since the frost, no fruit on it yet though. I suppose I will have to wait until next year.

There's "Jack's Quarter-Pounder" aka Mega-Magnolia, which originated in GA; I've seen photos of fruit on the tree as large as a tennis ball - and no, it wasn't on the TyTy Nursery website!!!
Sal's Fig and Dark Portugal do well for me up here in the frigid northland(KY).

Try the Italian Honey fig. The figs are very large, yellowish green and sweet. I have one in my yard (I'm in Atlanta). You can purchase them from Wayside.
