Hey all. I'm sorry I didn't take a picture, but I wonder if you all might know what kind of beetle I saw on my Birdhouse Gourd vine?

It looks like a ladybeetle on steroids. LOL. It's the same shape as a ladybeetle, and it is orange with navy blue/black dots on its back. The only difference is that it is about 3x the size of any ladybeetle I've ever seen, and it has a shimmery, almost metallic look to it.

I saw two of them yesterday, and they were making these strange dark-orange, jelly-like corkscrews around the vines. Any clue what these are? Thanks! :)
