Plant it. Keep it well watered. Chances are it will survive.

It will live only if you protect it from future ravages which will happen if accessible to your dog.

Speaking from experience here. Two dogs have killed -- as in repeatedly eaten to the ground -- 3 sizable clumps of ornamental grasses. Unfortunately, such grasses don't tolerate "mowing" as well as do lawn grasses.

Jean, is this a common thing, dogs and ornamental grasses?I had no idea she would even touch it. It was the wierdes thing. She never does anything like that. Altough she did sample a hosta once, after which her face swelled up. Allergic reaction or something.

I will go ahead and plant it then, and see what happens.

It has been with the dogs I've had.

So put it out of reach in one way or another.

My cats eat my Miscanthus 'Little Bunny' and NOID green fescues. They also pee in their centers.

Not sure about that grass but we cut done all are grasses in the spring and they come back healthier. (such as maiden's hair)

It's starting to come back! Yay!

My cat also loves to chew on the shorter cool-season grasses in the back garden, namely an as yet unidentified Carex species and the Deschampsia caespistosa (tufted hair grass). However she only chews a few blades, not 2/3 of the whole thing! :)

A friend's lab only ate the ribbon grass...but even that couldn't keep it in check. LOL

Dogs eat grass all the time. I'm sure he thought it was nice of you to put it in a "dish" for him.
