Hi, all! I'm looking to go over to the dark side and replace my St. Augustine with a Straggler Daisy (Horseherb) groundcover. But, I've heard anecdotally that this can provide a breeding ground for mosquitoes, especially if you allow leaves to decay beneath them - and I do have three large trees - but I'm reading here that you need standing water for that. It might serve as a hangout for the adults, though?

So I'm trying to get the real story here. I'm wondering:

1. is there any way that planting SD could worsen mosquito problems? (I don't keep standing water, but I can't speak for my neighbors.) If so, what's the best way to maintain the SD to minimize them?

2. could the SD actually *help* with mosquitoes, by attracting critters that feed on adults - anoles, dragonflies (if they eat the tiny bees that love the SD flowers), etc.?
