Native orchids in bloom now

I spent most of the morning watering plants today and noticed that a couple of fall blooming native orchids have popped up.

This is Tipularia discolor, the cranefly orchid. It sends up a bloom stalk in the fall, an ethereal wand of pale purple and cream. After the blooms fade, a single green leaf with purple reverse will appear and stay until late spring.

And this is Goodyera pubescens, Rattlesnake plantain, it is evergreen year round, sending up fresh leaves from time to time:

I sure hope that some of you are finding some of these treasures in your own yard.
