The best values can sometimes be had by using very local folks. You might want to say what general you are in.

But whatever you do, get about 3 different estimates. You'll find that the price can really vary. My estimates went from $2K to $1300 to $700 (for two large oaks about 10 years ago). Of course you still have to consider references, insurance and availability.

Freeman Tree(770-442-1480) or Richmond Tree Service(770-974-3964) are the only two I ever use. Both are insured and have state licensed arborists on the crew for tree prunning.

If you are inside the city limits be aware you will pay the city for tree removal unless you do it under wraps on a weekend and you have nieghbors that like you.
