Lion's Ear Question

Last spring at the swap we held at GGG's I picked up a little plant that had a marker in it that said "Lion's Ear". I have not been able to find any information on the plant based on that name. It is now about 10 stalks ranging from 6 to 10 feet tall, it's in full sun and seems to be thriving quite well. My question is...flowers? When and what do they look like?

I hope somebody brings it to the trade again! It is one of those "Gramma,what's that?" plants.Will it winter over, or is it an annual here?

It gets REALLY tall and starts to flower pretty soon. The orange flowers remind me of phlomis. They are a little ball of flowers and out of that grows another stem and another ball of flowers, etc. Anyway, it is easy to propagate from cuttings. It is not hardy here.
