A few years ago, I bought some hostas at Home Depot. The tag says 'Sum and Substance'. They are your basic green with light purple flowers. Not sure if they are the real grandma hosta, but they seem like it.

I'd ask on the hosta forum. These hostas are not unique to Georgia and those folks live and breathe the stuff!

The smaller leaf, with lavender/purple flowers is probably Hosta lancifolia. The white flowered one could be Hosta plantaginea, which has large, fragrant flowers. It's flowers are fully open only at night, to attract certain types of pollinators, probably moths.

H.'Sum and Substance' has smaller mid green leaves when young but is supposed to have huge round yellow/green leaves when mature (really huge, dinnerplate size leaves), so I don't think that's the one. Hosta ventricosa reseeds readily, has mid-dark green slightly heart shaped leaves and mid purple flowers early in the hosta flowering season -could it be that one? The other one might be H.'Royal Standard' - white flowers later in season, glossier foliage. It's been very popular since the 60's.

garden, why not ask someone in the cabins for some hostas? They are easy to divide, and within a few years, you will have many yourself.
