I received a red (or is it purple?) plum plant, just a twig really,with an on-line order. I planted it in a pot. Now it has three shoots coming up from the bottom of the twig. The original twig looks dead. Should I snip two shoots and keep one? The shoots are long and limber and tend to blow over in a strong wind. Should I stake? Thanks. Peg
