You might check with AAA Ornamentals, in Big Rock, IL (50 miles west of Chicago). Their website is hostas.com, but it doesn't always work well. The usually have a pretty good variety of ornamental grasses.

It isn't likely you could grow any of the dwarf Zebra's from seed.

You won't be able to grow from seed, but there are lots of suppliers for zebra grass. If you want a dwarf zebra, such as 'Little Zebra', you can try mail order as well. Santa Rosa Gardens, Plant Delights, Walters Gardens, to name a few. Gary at AAA may be able to provide what you need if they are close by. Even a home garden center may have a dwarf zebra grass available. I suggest getting them in the ground at least 6 weeks before frost time in your area to establish themselves.

My personal choices for the smaller horizontal variegations are Miscanthus Little Zebra, Super Stripe, Puenktchen, Stardust, and Goldbar (my fav).
