We have some here too that started noticeably showing up in the last couple of years (judging by the road-kill count). For some reason they don't seem to be bothering my garden and veggies yet even though I frequently see them crossing the gravel drive or rooting around in the woods when we take walks.

I know others West of here who post on the AL forum have a terrible time with them. It's shoot (or poison) to kill and there's usually at least 1 "how many armadillos did you kill today?" thread that gets started each year. I have a soft spot for most critters with less than 8 legs but if they start doing to my garden what everyone says they do it'll be time to take the shotgun off the wall again.

This is certainly something I've dreaded ever since hearing these guys were northward bound. Trapped 17 in her yard? It sounds very scary indeed.

As far as mitigation strategies, sounds like we'll have to ask our southern neighbors for help.

I wonder if anyone in south Georgia can weigh in on this topic?

Maybe the folks in south GA have the problem in under control, as I never hear mention of these armoured pigs invading their yards.

I wonder what you would do with trapped armadillos- make them someone else's problem? Disposing of the corpses could be as big an issue ad killing them- these are slightly smaller than racoons (???)
