Yep, I've lost at least 6 Azaleas that were 1-2 year olds plus it looks like I'm losing an established one that's over 5 years old. Lost a large Gardenia and an ornamental cherry tree. Hydrangeas are being watered daily with air conditioning run-off I'm collecting and are barely alive. I've lost at least 1 Illustris Elephant Ear and possibly one of my Black Magics. 1 climbing rose is starting to turn brown and crunchy.

All of my heucheras look pretty crunchy whether they're in a sunnier spot or in shade. Even the shade is just too dry. Some of my hostas are either dead or dormant as are some daylily varieties. I lost lots of large container grown perennials/shrubs I had rooted because my well can't keep up with the demand. I had to choose between trying to save my landscape plants or my rooted babies that I can re-root next year. =(

On a brighter note, we finally got a decent soaking rain last week as well as Sunday afternoon so I am very thankful for that. The soil is still damp at the moment and I finally broke down and made some rain barrels which are currently full.

Hope everyone else got some reprieve too.

I lost my rhodo which was about 4 years old. Broke my heart. Also 5 new azaleas that I planted this spring. They were just too root bound and needed to be watered every day. Wasn't happening this year.

Most of my plants are hanging on, some just barely. They are hanging on ONLY because of all the watering we did... we have a water bill you wouldn't believe. The temps have been SO high that its like you put the plants in an oven and baked them. Lets all pray for normal rainfall and temps next year! I had lots of plans for my woodland shade garden this year, but just finally gave up for this year. No need in planting something, only to have to baby it and water it and coddle it just to get it to live. It is discouraging, but maybe next year will be better.

I lost one of my balsam firs. It just suddenly turned brown which was strange considering it didn't appear to be stressed. It was pretty established.

Oh and 3 teddy arborvitaes are probably goners.

I've lost mostly annuals, which I don't really care about. I did lose a Turk's cap lily, which will be replaced. But the one loss that has really hurt was a Japanese maple my inlaws gave me in memory of my son. I will replace it with something, but it just makes me sad.

I forgot to say earlier...I think I'm losing a loropetalum. I nursed one back to health, but it looks like the other may not make it. Here's hoping for a nice wet winter and next year!
