Do you know what kind of magnolia it is? And how old/big is it?

I really dont know if it is a tree that has been stunted or little gem out of control. As far as the age I have no clue we only moved in 2 months ago. Because of the size ( at least 5')
I would think that it is at least a few years old. The Leaves are grayish green and rough not waxy or glossy. The plant had grown so large that the last owners had to tie it to a post to keep it up.

If it's only 5 feet tall, I would try digging it up and moving it. Even a little gem gets 30 feet high and would be too big that close to the house. I have 3 little gems that I planted about 2 years ago and they are about 4 feet high.

Non-glossy gray green leaves perhaps indicate a Sweet Bay Magnolia? They don't get very big. Are you sure it's a Magnolia? Anyway, Magnolias don't relish being moved once they've been in the ground a few years. Plus, it could be a real BEAR to get out of the ground. Wait till November or December if you want to give it a go.
