Kathy, I have been trying to get in touch with Nancy as well, but with no luck, did you manage to contact her?

Today I was googling Nancy's name and came across some very sad news. It appears that we lost Nancy and none of us even knew it.

Nancy Carolyn Carithers of Sugar Hill, Georgia, passed away on June 22, 2007. A Memorial Service in her honor will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2007 in Marietta, GA. For details regarding the service please telephone, 917-992-8432. Banister Funeral Home of Dahlonega, GA is in charge of arrangements.

This explains why her last post to gardenweb was in May.

I have been trying to find her because the Humane Society contacted me about Molly the little dog she adopted from them via me last summer. I fostered Molly (then known as Mulan) since she was about 2 weeks old and thought she had found a wonderful forever home with Nancy and her Corgi. Imagine my surprise when I got the call that Molly was found roaming stray all the way in Dacula. Now I am sick to my stomach that this dear sweet lady left us and none of ever even knew it. I for one feel horrible that it took me 4 months to know that someone I considered a a friend is dead. Rest in peace Nancy, I will make sure Molly is taken care of.

Oh my goodness! She definitely will be missed. Thank you so much, Kathy, for telling us. I wonder what happened with Molly that she was roaming? Thank goodness she is in good hands now.

Kathy, this is so sad. I was working in my garden today and looking at the plants that Nancy had given me and i was thinking of her. She will be missed, God Bless Nancy.

I'm so sorry to hear about Sugarhill. I never knew her real name but she was so active on this forum and in her yard. She will indeed be missed.

Just wondering if you and Nancy ever got together about the fountain. The last time I communicated with her was when she had to cancel our lunch in mid May since she was under the weather, remember when she was going to have us both over and then she had to cancel? That was 5/16th (I still have the email) then her last Gardenweb posting far as I can tell was June 1st, she replied to a post. The really weird thing to me was that she died June 22nd and the obituary didn't even run until July 18th with a memorial service on July 21st.

I called the number in the obituary and it went to Michael's voice mail (I am pretty sure he is her son)but so far no reply yet. Poor little Molly (her dog) is at the Humane Society, (Forsyth county is no-kill) I can not take her because she chases cats and I can't do that to my cat.
I really need to know what happened to her. I am trying to figure out-- 1. What happened to Nancy and 2.Who is supposed to have Molly. I feel so bad for that dog, missing her mama and her doggie sister, Penny.

Kathy, I saw that her son's name and address was posted and I wondered if you were going to contact him about Molly. He may well want Molly (she could have escaped) out of love for his mother. Keep us posted if you find anything out. It does seem that something happened suddenly.

We traded plants last year, meeting at the Starbucks on Windward with Barbara too. Now the columbine she gave me has special meaning.

esh, where did you see her son's name and address? I only saw the number in the obituary, which until I called it, I asumed was the funeral home. So far he has not called me back. BTW I went to the Humane Society and saw Molly today, more bad news the poor thing has tested possitive for heartworms. It was all I could do not to bring her home. I still may, since during heartrworm treatment she will need to be mainly crated to keep her resting. That may mean I can deal with the fence jumping issue, since she wouldn't be able to run around anyway and she seemed to do ok with the cats at the shelter so the cat chasing may have been a puppy thing. DH and I need to have a big talk tonight. He is pretty dead set against any more animals in the house, but I hate the thought of her going through all of this after everything she ahs been through all of which we don't even know.

efam I have no idea what happened to Penny. I only know what happened to Molly because she was found stray and the Humane Society called me since I ahd fostered her as a baby and placed her with Nancy. When they couldn't get in touch with Nancy they called me. I am still waiting to here back from her son, Michael. I have left messages for him at two different numbers, but no reply as of yet.

Well dh gave in an I am going to get Molly to bring her home. We will keep her during her treatment for heartworms (about 4-5 weeks) after which she will be eleigible for adoption. She is a very sweet dog--about 1.5 years old. She is some sort of terrier mix, about 30lbs or so. I am going to get her after my daughter gets off the bus so once I get a picture I will post it.

Thank you for letting us know about Nancy. She sent me some very kind emails after my son died. She wrote when the daffodils were coming up, and how they reminded her of Evan. It really touched me that she was thinking about us months after Evan's death. We had planned to do a little plant exchange for Evan's garden. I think I will plant some of her beloved cyclamen in Evan's garden in Nancy's memory.

This is so sad. I never met Nancy IRL, but of course you feel you get to know people on the web.
