Alpharetta, Did you find the Japanese persimmon locally? I have been not be able to locate them at a local nursery.
has anyone had much luck with them in this area, I don't think I have ever seen one locally with fruit.

I have few friends sucessfully growing Asian persimmon in their backyard. I cannot speak for my success yet, cuz my persimmons are too young. I bought some from Raintree but the survival rate was very small. I then bought from Johnson Nursery, which is about 1 hour driving from my place. I now have Tamopa, Beauty of Moscow, and Fufy.

There are two Asian Persimmons for sale at Ace Village Hardware on Glenwood in Atlanta. Fuyu is one, I can't remember the other.

The camellia has had a new place to bloom. Thanks to Rosie from Sugar Hill.

Lucky lucky me, now the proud owner of Phi's (Alpharetta) magnificent camellia. It was such a pleasure to tour his gardens - so many interesting plants, many fruit trees, and many plants he told me are beneficials for health. To add to the pleasure, I met two of Phi's friends from Vietnam, and his wife and toddler daughter. Now to get this enormous camellia planted, staked, then prayed over. It has hundreds of buds! And this was a double blessing as I now have some very interesting new friends.

Thanks folks for the leads on Japanese Persimmon, I will probably try Johnson's in Elijay, I am up that way quite often.

I transplanted some very old ones last year and lost a couple. While the others looked haggered, leaned a little and got crispy while green (don't know how else to put it), they finally started coming back to normal toward the end of the summer. I was advised to prune them pretty good (by 1/2) so they could concentrate on the root system. They haven't filled back out yet but they are huge and that will probably take some more time.
