Welcome to Atlanta! There are lots of great choices for a green row, what type of height are you looking for? If you're looking for privacy, Thuja Green Giants are nice. They are evergreen and grow tall pretty quickly in a sunny yard. Nellie Stevens Hollies are also pretty fast growing and have nice red berries the birds love. They're also a good barrier since they're prickly. Another of my favorite evergreen shrubs is loropetalum, there are lots of varieties, different colors, heights and they have cute pom-pom type flowers in the spring and fall.

There are so many choices, I'm sure others will chime in with lots of suggestions. Good luck with your new garden! I bought a home about four years ago that was completely barren in the front. It was a little intimidating but also exciting since it was a blank slate.

Welcome to Atlanta. I would suggest you consider the architecture of your home in midtown before choosing plants. Some plants just don't go with certain styles. I love to see conifers with Tudors and more broadleaf specimens with modern or contemporary styles. One has consider colors and winter interest as well for foundation plants. Ground covers in lieu of grass can be tricky and most end up with Ivy or Vinca everywhere. Pachysandra, Lysimachia, and Lamium work well but, can also be a bit aggressive.
