mine went away at the end of september

My birdwatchers newsletter says to keep them up through November. There may be stragglers that are still migrating and they need the nectar. Since you still have some, I would keep them filled. I haven't seen any for weeks. What part of GA are you in?

Mine left about a month ago...and the male that guarded the feeder sure was fat!!
It's still up, though, in case any more come through.

I am in Gwinnett (Suwanee). Maybe they are just stragglers because I hadnt seen any for a couple of weeks and now for the last week they have been around.

If you still have a hummer in Georgia it is more likely to be one of the western species that winter here. Can you get a picture? Females and juveniles can be very difficult to ID. Never take a feeder down if you have a bird. A feeder provides nourishment for these winter hummers, and will not stop a Ruby-throat from migrating. You can contact Rusty Trump who will come and ID and band your bird (if you wish). He's documented 10 species of hummers in Georgia.
