Yellow Walking Iris

Does anyone have an experience with growing Yellow Walking Iris outdoors in Georgia? I have received it in a trade, and would prefer to plant it outside, however it might be safer indoors.

Your help and suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Outdoors it needs a mix of sand and loam. It won't work with our red clay, even if amended. I don't think it'll come back the next spring because it is tropcal.

Maybe I better take it inside then and pot it in a potting soil. What do you think? Do I need to amend potting medium?
