i have planted spring flowering bulbs as late as the end of January and they did well. Just get them in the ground as soon as you can.

I've never stored bulbs either, except in the ground :) So I would plant them. I've had daffodils break dormancy while waiting to be planted. Then you have to plant them. I haven't planted tulips and daffodils as late as January, but I have planted them up to Christmas. It seems they just came up a little later than normal the first year.

When I have to store bulbs I either leave them in a paper bag in the hydrator of the refrigerator or put them in a cardboard box or paper bag and put them in the coldest part of the garage. They like the cold without actually freezing. Lack of air circulation is usually what damages them if left too long like this(Months), the may begin to mold

You can plant anytime - they perform better after having endured the cold either in the ground or in cold storage.
