Here's a follow-up to the inquiry I made this year about my pineapple plant. I was curious about how much luck others have had with growing pineapples. I rooted a top two summers ago and this summer, I had a pineapple. I picked it this fall when I could smell the fruity smell. I let it turn a little more golden in the house and then I cut it. It was delicious and sweet, though a little small. I had been told that the plant would not bear another fruit so I left it outside in the cold. One little pineapple probably wasn't worth the trouble, but I enjoyed the experiment (and I hate to throw those pineapple tops away!!)
