How do I give my Porch more curb appeal?
Comments (13)Would you be able to continue the same fence thats along the side ...to the front of driveway wit gate..and fence all the way to front of house. I would paint wood fence the same beige color as the house, and grow ramblings roses on it in pale pinks and whites. I would put a nice accent gate in the fence to enter but off by the driveway to the right and not directly in the front of house..and from the gate make a narrow rustic stone path to the house entrance. Landscape along the way to add some flow and charm. I like the beige colors and sage greens. I would not keep the maroon color but go softer in a sage palette. The gate and slight walk to the front door will add some mystery. It would not be expensive to do. I would also plant tall flowers and vines or rambling roses against the front of house too. I think English Country manor house is what I would go for as overall look and feel. Look at books on this to get your ideas for materials and plantings and color palette. It would look beautiful....See MoreHow do I add a super budget half bath to my 1941 2bed/1bath home?
Comments (10)Garage slabs have different types of cement used. They are often "unsealed" with limited moisture barriers - if any at all. The best thing to do is start with someone who knows about your local building codes and where, if any, you are "allowed" to add square footage. Local ordinances are difficult at the best of times...most of us are in N. America and trying to "guess" what can occur over the pond is more of a crap shoot than anything else. Sticking with plumbing is a great option for budget...but can run into things like "loosing space" in rooms already existing. The most cost effective would be to install your 1/2 bath against the wall of the existing bathroom. The fixtures are all there, you just have to open up the wall and add the right equipment to allow for proper drainage, etc. That way you are only having to add 2-3 walls rather than build a whole new room....See MoreHelp me give this bath a facelift on a budget!
Comments (4)For $500 makeover, I would get a new light fixture and mirror, keep walls and trim white (it's a small room and with black trim it may be overwhelming). Remove cupboard door completely and add shelving and white baskets and towels, etc. If you have money left over, a rad cover. Comments (146)I laughed at all your posts. Who knew having clean pets and kids would be so controversial. My pets and kids are all over the house. I have never bathed either one in the kitchen sink but have washed sons hair in the kitchen and occasionally my own. Dogs are bathed in the tub or in warm weather outside with the hose. I would like to weigh in on the germ issue. I have to renew my health and safety certificate every year for my work. We were told that the germs were not getting stronger, we are getting weaker with too much sanitizing. No need for anti anything. Soap and water does the trick. Living with animals makes a child's immune system stronger and they have less allergies than children who have lived a germ free life. Relax, enjoy, clean your sinks daily and all will be well....See Moremotormouth76
