I've ordered from Crintonic, but have never been able to visit the place. Lucky you!

Are you going right away? It is late in the season, but many of the plants I have blooming right now are Hansons -- they tend to be late bloomers in my garden. Hopefully there will be plenty to see when you get there.

I have not been to Curt's garden but my mother-inlaw went last year and was very impressed. As for daylily suggestions, Joan Derifield is amazing and Guns of Navarone is really good as well. For an older one I really like James Elmore. I don't know if Curt is still selling that one.

What does "Crintonic" mean? Where did the name come from? Just wondering...

Visited Curt just 3 weeks ago. He's pretty much always there and will talk your ear off. Olde but goodie is Bela Lugosi if your into purples. He probably doesn't seel it anymore though.

Just tell him what your looking for and he will match you up with your likes. He also has a large amount of other hybridizers plants there for I think it was 30.00 a pop for any cultivar. There are a number of 60-100.00 plants that you can get for that 30.00.

Ask about his seedlings you can buy. Qutie a few are worthwhile. Have a great trip.

Chris, I'll be going next weekend - the 16th/17th. It does seem like a lot of his introductions bloom later than a lot of others, so hopefully I will luck out. I'd really like to see as many as possible in person!

Kathy, I have no idea what Crintonic means - maybe someone else can let us know. If not, I'll try to remember to ask when I get there! :o)

I just made a list and here's all the Hanson's that I have right now - a few more than I thought. A couple of them were just purchased a month or so ago, so I haven't seen them bloom yet.

Can you tell that I like the darker ones?!

So far, I have not spent more than $20 or so (excluding shipping) on a daylily. One I would really like to get from him is Red Sleeved Warrior (that went on my list after seeing Chris's pictures last year) - especially since I can't seem to find anywhere else to get it. Primal Scream has been on the top of my list of must-gets for a few years, but I know I can get that elsewhere.

Edward, Joan Derifield is one that is on my list too - it sure is gorgeous. I'll have to look up Guns of Navarone.

Lilynut, thanks for mentioning about the other hybridizers plants and his seedlings - good to know! I'll have to be sure to check everything out. Is Crintonic at Curt's home?

Oh, I forgot to put Supreme Empire on the list of Hansons that I have (I ordered it a last week, I think it's being shipped on Monday).

Laura, you've got a great list there and yes, I can tell you really like the dark ones. :o)

For other dark ones, you should also check out Spartacus Adorned, Ansel Adams, Exquisitely Subversive, Lounge Lizard and Road to Samarkand. I wish I had a fan or two of Red Sleeved Warrior to send you, but it's been slow to increase.

I have a lot of Hansons. Lounge Lizard really stood out this year. Lots of buds, often 2 per scape would open. It has about 10 pods hanging now. 99 was a good year for him, I think. A lot from that year are inexpensive too. His plants increase well.

Laura - Red Sleeved Warrior is a good choice. I love mine. Wish I were going with you. I agree with Maximus that Sparticus Adorned and Exquisitely Subversive are excellent purples. Robert Lee Batt is another that I especially love - great flowers and the best foliage in the garden. Waves Becomes Wings is a great late pink that will probably be blooming at Curt's. I highly recommend that one.

Chris, waytogrow and Debra - Thank you all for the suggestions! Several of those are on the list I put together of ones I wanted to investigate further. I think I'll have to limit myself to 2 or 3 including Red Sleeved Warrior. I will be sure to look into the ones you've mentioned over the next few days.

Chris, I wanted to look at your albums in detail before I left, but I guess I'll be taking my laptop and looking at them from my hotel room. I'm amazed by the quantity of beautiful flowers you have and the quality of your incredible pictures. I'll send you an email next week re: Etruscan Tomb - thanks for the generous offer!

I did send an email to Crintonic earlier this week, asking about days/hours to visit and if there was a lot blooming, and got a prompt response back from Curt. Here's part of his response said that "The daylilies continue to bloom, lots of lates and rebloom. The cool nights have shrunk them down and they open slow, but hopefully it will warm up" Hopefully it does warm up by Sunday there, for my daylily viewing. I'm glad to hear that there are lots of lates and rebloom too!
