Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving to all. We all have much to be thankful for (Hostas and a whole lot more). I wish the happiest of holidays to everyone!

We'll be spending our holiday at my step son's home. He and his bride rented a house not far from ours and I jokingly said 'We'll all be over for Thanksgiving' Turns out he likes the idea AND he knows how to cook turkey! I think I'll be taking everything else. My list includes, a Potato dish, Stuffing, Gravy, Sweet Potatoes, Corn Macarooni Casserole, Carrots with dill butter, peas, Rolls, 3 kinds Pecan Pie, 2 pumpkin pie, possibly 1 apple pie, and 7 layer bars.

What are you doing for Thanksgiving? Where are you celebrating? Who are you celebrating with? What are you having for dinner? Do you have any great recipes or tips to share?

How are you doing stuffing and gravy without the turkey, Joyce? You must have a secret--we must know?? :o)

Is that a 'Corn-Macaroni Casserole' or was there a comma supposed to be inbetween. If it is correctly named,
I'd love to know the recipe for it--sounds interesting!

Also, would you share the 'Carrots with dill butter' recipe, too!

Oh--nevermind--we'll just show up for your dinner, instead!! LOL

Hi Janice.

No big secret... just roast a chicken and use that for making the stuffing and gravy. BUT... I found I'm off the hook for those two items. My step-son said last night that he's got them covered.

It's definitely Corn-Macaroni Casserole and it's one of the best corn dishes ever. Everyone that's ever eaten this absolutely loves it! And it is so easy. Here's how I make it.

Mix together:

1 stick melted margerine
1 can cream style corn
1 cup dry macaroni
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 teaspoon dried minced onion

If you want more, just double, triple, or quadruple everything. I usually triple :-)

Bake at 350 for approximately an hour (util macaroni is soft and the dish is browned a little on top.

You can mix it all together and refrigerate over night before baking if you want (not necessary but it will bake in half the time if you do that).

Wonderful, Joyce!! Thank you so much--I can't wait to try both recipes!!!

Glad you're off the hook for some of what you listed--I can't imagine hauling that much food
to another location!!! :o)

Will be trying that recipe soon.

We're going to my sister Rita's for dinner. There will be 17 of us so the croud is smaller than it can be. I'm taking pies, pumpkin, cherry, pecan, and either peach or apple I'm not sure. Only the pumpkin and pecan are made from scratch. I use canned fruits for the others. Hope there is some left over to bring home!!
