acidity in jam

Yesterday and today I made some cantaloupe jam and added 1 t. citric acid per c. of puree to raise the acidity level so it'd be OK to put away. One batch was pure cantaloupe, one had OJ added, and the last one had blueberries. I've been using Certo liquid pectin and noticed that it ALSO has citric acid.

The jam is quite tart (from the acid, I'm sure), more than I'd like it to be. How much do you think I could cut back on the citric acid and still be 'safe'? There's really not much out on the WWW on cantaloupe preserves/jam/etc.

(I'm using 4.5 c. puree to 7 c. sugar.)
