Interestingly enough when you get to the alphabet the page looks alarmingly like THL making it looking legit at first glance. Did not click on the links - I'll take your word for it Sheila.

Is the ca extension on a web domain mean Canada?

Hi ladies; I just checked it out...clicked the on adult link, no teens naked or other wise. The page said it it was not available. So hopefully it has been taken down. It is just plain spooky, as this happened to me a few months ago w/ another hosta site I tried to access & got some type of adult content. I am not against freedom of speech , or any such thing but not when it concerns children under 18. I have now come across 2 sites that look much like existing hosta sites & are porno. I do not understand enough about computers to phantom who or why or how anyone would do such a thing. I want to see pictures of hosta on hosta sites not,adult content. Of course we just click off , but would be interesting to know why this is done??? Anyone know about this stuff please explain it to this computer dummy. Thanks ~Dot

Hi Teresa, yes .ca does indicate that the provider is located in Canada. In fact, every tiny bit in an URL matters.

Sheila's post made me think of http://whitehouse.com, a site which most elementary schoolteachers learned to fear, as their charges entered this in place of ".gov". Thank goodness, is clean now, and the header honestly states "We are not affiliated or endorsed by the US government". Content is no worse then what you might hear on the Lenno show.

Should you by mistake type .org at the end, you will get to a site with a banner across the top stating: The White House, Official Website of President George Bush. All I can say is "Viewer beware".

The page was created by someone named Jerome Paradis. His name is listed along with a web link on the Patomic Hosta Clubs link page at http://members.aol.com/potomacgiboshi/page17.html but the link goes to an undeveloped website.

I think he is this guy http://blog.jeromeparadis.com/contact.aspx who is a programmer and web developer, also married to someone named Kim Vallee who appears to be an interior designer.

Lots of boring stuff probably no one wanted to know... I was just curious enough to go digging. Why he had a link to an adult page on his site, I don't know. It's gone and all the other links appear to be legitimate. The one does go to Hostalib...

hmmm..... guess that shows what a sad state my social life is in. Nothing better than that to do on a Friday night!

Hi Teresa. Wasn't the catching up with friends I was lamenting about.... was all that time spent digging for info on some guy I don't know that linked an adult webpage to his hosta site :-)

Joyce & Teresa, Just like there programs which like to send viruses, worms, spam etc. to your computer, there are also malicous programsm that try messing with webpages on server sites. I am not sure whre I read this, but such threats are a real issue, should you try to run a server program from your home computer, which technical is possible, but not recommanded, because of the complications listed above.
Mayne Joyce can dig up some stuff in that direction.
My guess is that the above mentioned link was not placed there by the site's owner.
