June is a great looking plant to be sure. When I planted , I tried to go with a dark or blue plant next to a brighter plant. I was not 100 percent successful but I try not to have similar plants next to each other unless I am making a spot with multiples of one type for effect.

You will run out of room ,before you run out of types you like !

In my opinion, perhaps some nice-looking fragrants like 'Guacamole', 'Cathedral Windows' 'Avocado' 'Fried Green Tomatoes' and 'Fried Bananas'? And maybe a 'plantaginea' for good measure? Just one hostaholic's 2 cents.

'June' is a great suggestion; Perhaps a larger 'Paul's Glory' behind 'June'? or 'Great Arrival' is a real beauty, too...'Journey's End'...'Lakeside Roy El'...Decisions, decisions....

I agree with Don's suggestion of some nice fragrant hosta. They will love the morning sun. Remember that they bloom late in the season, and they probably smell the best near twilight and early evening. So if you have a seating area nearby, where you sit of a summer's eve, they would be most appropriate for there.

Fried Bananas will give a yellow leaf, which I dearly love. And, another fragrant one which blooms prolifically and is a vigorous grower (not a huge plant, but it is lush) is called Royal Standard--all green, if that matters.

Thanks so much for all the ideas. I have been looking them all up in the hosta library. It would be very easy to get carried away.

Leafwatcher, when I planted my hostas my backyard, I ended up with all blues at one end, and all the small together. Not the best plan. Trying to alternate dark plants with bright plants is a good idea.

Don, I really appreciate all your suggestions. The only problem is when I look them up, I see more and more hostas I just have to have. Going with frangants is a good idea for the front of the house.

Moccasinlanding, I have a glider right next to where my new garden is going. Its exciting to plan out a new garden. Especially since it is now the first day of spring, and the temperature is 2 degrees above zero....
