Slug bait stations???

I have some slug killer pellets I plan on using soon. The main downside I see to these pellets is that they disintegrate after rain or watering. I do not want to put pellets our everyday, nor could I afford to with about 3oo hostas.

I am wondering if I could make some sort of waterproof (covered) bait station that would keep the pellets dry, thus they would last until the slugs had eaten them. Do you think something like that would work?

I have read that slugs will travel some distance to get to the bait, so I'm thinking I could put a bait station every 10-15 feet.
