I was surprised to see a patch of winter aconite in bloom on Thursday, in additon to the snowdrops. Saw two honey bees visiting the blooms!

I'm pretty sure I'll have some mache and miners lettuce in the vegetable garden but since I live on a clay "vly" which I think means something like "pudding" in Dutch, It's a little messy walking into the garden during an early thaw.

Some bulb like things are coming up in my yard too. Since it's my first Spring there, I have no idea what they are! The snowdrops I planted aren't coming up yet. But there is something coming up where I planed my crocuses! Exciting!

My first snowdrops bloomed February 3rd - the earliest ever. Winter aconite in bud but not open - just waiting for a warm day. Iris reticulata up and so are daffs but no buds.

I have all sorts of plants waking up. As of this past Sunday, I have loads of daffodils, crocus and hyacinth popping up. There won't be flowers for a while yet, but they have just about all pushed through the ground. The Icicle pansies have been blooming since January, and I noticed that even the sedum is budding.I was surprised to see new growth already showing up for my butterfly bush, so I guess its time to trim down the dead canes from last year :-) The forsythia buds are swelling out quite a bit, too. The primrose are greening up and sending new shoots, as is the foxglove. I hadn't realized it, but a couple of the hellebore were already blooming. So, there is a lot of activity for this early in the season !

The snowdrops that started in February are still flowering, the winter aconite is in full bloom, ditto crocus tomasianus. Iris reticulata and squills are up and so are summer snowflakes. Daffs in bud but no flowers yet. 11 degrees this morning but it is supposed to be a bit warmer tomorrow.
