flowering quince

Has anybody noticed the disappearance in stores/catalogs of the original intense orangey-pink flowered varieties in favor of newer tomato red or pink cultivars. I'm really in love with that original color and I see it in people's backyards all the time, but nobody seems to be selling it anywhere.

Anyone have a source for it?

I know it suckers like crazy, maybe you could find someone willing to let you dig up a piece. It's in at least 3 gardens I help with, certainly someone would let you have a piece of an old one. The voles do like to eat the roots though. If I see it around for sale, I'll post the place.

Thanks corapegia. I'm not up on my shrub propagating: If someone let's me dig up a piece, how long will it take before I have something comparable to a 2.5 gallon-ish plant from the store?
