Did the same with my broccoli rabe. I think I waited to long to get it into the ground, but I'll try again in the fall. The warm spring didn't help matters any!

We've been eating lettuce from the garden for the past few days. Finally, I had success with it! Maybe because I paid attention to it and didn't fry the seedlings.

I'm so glad our vegetable garden is looking so healthy. I just gave away a ton of tomato and pepper plants.

I planted both snow peas and shell peas. Both plantings are loaded with peas. We had a snow pea intensive stir fry for dinner last night.

According to the package, the shell peas we planted is Progress #9. The package says the plants grow to 18 inches and don't need support. It's a good thing I didn't believe this; they are taller than I am. I forget what we had for dinner Tuesday night, but my daughter had peas. These are supposedly not edible pod peas, but they are still young enough that we are eating them pod and all.

Yes the greens they are a bolting.

Star snap peas from Johnny's Selected seeds are winners! They are the sweetest, tenderest snaps I've ever grown. They cook up well, too.

Sugar snaps are days away from in-garden feasting up here in the Northern Adirondacks. I would have thought my old Hudson Valley fellow gardeners would have had their early crop finished long ago.

My late crop is almost a foot tall already, growing a lot faster than I expected. Still, frost can happen the second week of September...

This post was from last year. My sugar snaps died early in the heat this year and I had my first tomato July 12th!
Think it will be string bean time tomorrow - I only got one tripod of poles planted but it's loaded. Fortrex - a long, skinny, very tasty variety.

That's what happens when you follow the search results and not look at dates. Been picking beans this week but the first tomato is weeks away. I miss the long Hudson Valley growing season.

I finished the last of the peas this week and ripped the vines out. I hate when they're all gone. I cling to each and every last pod. I'm planting more this week for September.

I found the pea vines (4 different varieties) to be much taller this year than usual. Most of them were falling over the tops of the pea fencing.

What're everyone's favorite peas?
