My yard is pretty dry as well.

I'd like to get some rain barrels in the future, and I was thinking of using them to fill gallon milk jugs that I had cut slits into. Then, I'd place the jugs around the garden. Sort of a drip irrigation system. Does that sound like it'd work?

Funny timing on this thread. I just moved some plants around my yard this past week. Last evening I dragged the sprinkler out of the shed. After only 1/2 hour or so the grass around the transplants really perked up. I spent most of the night moving the sprinkler around the yard every few hours. Everything really was too dry, despite some impressive, but short, rainstorms lately.

The sprinkler is going out in front right now and will be moved to the back garden in another half hour. The weather forecast is for at least 10 more days with only isolated thunderstorms and they won't be much help.

I think we're all in pretty good shape now. It was raining most of the night and is raining pretty hard this morning. I think we're looking at a couple of days of this, hopefully too much water won't damage anything.

The newspaper says tornadoes and hail. Yikes!

Now, all my weeds will have a growth spurt!
