"Tropicals that grow from bulbs or tubers such as elephant's ears, caladium, and canna lily, can be overwintered right in their pots. Let them get nipped by frost to send the message that the end of the season has come. Put the pots in a cool, dark place and keep the soil moist, but not wet. You could also dig up the bulbs, wrap them in newspaper, and put them into a plastic bag. Check the bulbs monthly to make sure they are not drying out or molding. It will take some experience to find the ideal technique for your storage conditions."

I'm sure there's a lot more out there.

How did the Elephant's Ears do? I was thinking of getting some in the future, but I'm not sure if I want to go to the trouble of digging them up.

The elephant ears are doing great, however, they didn't start getting really big and full until the last few weeks. And now, as far as I'm concerned, summer is almost over! This is why I want to bring them inside and have them continue to grow over the winter. I don't want to have to start all over in the spring. I have a nice heated porch that I can keep them in all winter, but it definately does not recieve bright light. I have some fluorescent lights that I use for starting seed. Wondering if they would work.
