Oh well. That late freeze was pretty wide spread so maybe some of you have found some bargains too.

I saw the same thing here in western Pennsylvania--cheap, frost damaged plants. I was hoping there'd be some really good hummingbird plants in the mix but there weren't any. I'll keep looking, though, as selections rapidly change.

I just bought a Weigela on impulse at Home Depot. It's the variety, "Red Prince." It definitely wasn't clearance, It was about $24 or so--I forget the exact price. I couldn't resist, though, because it was just starting to bloom, and it's just smothered in wine colored buds. I've read that it should normally bloom in May, early in hummer season around here. It's supposed to be a 6 foot shrub, so should provide a lot of early season nectar for the hummingbirds. I have no idea where I'm going to put it so that it doesn't shade other plants. I'm probably going to have to dig up some more lawn. As far as I'm concerned, the less lawn, and the more hummer plants,the better. I'm just not looking forward to the back-breaking work.
