First ever hoya bloom

I noticed a nice surprise yesterday, my hoya carnosa cutting I got two years ago has flower buds on it. This would be my first hoya bloom. I can't wait until the buds open.

    The blooms finally opened up

Those are very pretty! My compacta has buds on it right now, and my diptera threw out 4 peduncles this year, so maybe it will bloom soon! All of my other hoyas are still pretty young!

Congratulations on your hoya buds! Do you have your hoyas outside? I moved mine where it gets morning sun for a couple of hours.

Mine are outside on our sheltered porch, along with my adenium until September, when it gets a bit too chilly at night for them. Then they join my seedlings and cacti in the "hoya corner" in our house.

Do you only have the one? I got addicted when I received one for my 18th birthday from my Great Aunt. It is my compacta. I have since acquired several. Don't have a favorite yet, as most of them have not bloomed. Been dipping into adeniums and growing my own veggies for quite a few years now, so my hoya collection was put on the back burner and I have just gotten back into it. I cannot wait until my meliflua throws out peduncles, it has my favorite blooms. Hubby can't wait until the DS-70 throws out and blooms, he LOVES butterscotch!

I have one right now. I see a couple of hoyas for sale at Lowes every once in awhile. My other addiction is plumerias lol. The butterscotch scented blooms sound wonderful!

Plumeria are BEAUTIFUL! I am so jealous that I don't have the room/conditions to grow them!

They really are beautiful plants. I had over a hundred plumeria seedlings at one time but I gave a majority of them to friends and family. I still have about 20 plumeria and every Fall I have to clear half of my room to store all of my dormant plumerias. None bloomed for me this year unfortunately but at least my hoya bloomed lol.

    Well its blooming again :)

    Blackwillow,

That is very pretty! Enjoy your blooms while they last. It is that Hoya that my mom had growing up that I fell in love with.

Aurora, your DS-70 will probably bloom this winter. It is an early bloomer too. It smells and tastes just like Butterscotch. Mine is blooming now a couple peduncles. Keep an eye on yours.

Thanks Teisa! I hope the blooms open before the cold weather gets here? I'm getting a fungii plant sometime this week so I'm so happy to be growing another hoya.
