Tree Tabacco or Native Cal. Honeysuckle

Dear Hummer lovers,

Has anyone used Tree Tobacco or Native Cal. Lonicera (Lonicera hispidula or L. subspicata denutata)? If so which is better? How about Creeping Trumpet Vine? Slow Grower & drought tolerant once established. I know Nicotiana glauca works, but how good? Friends need carefree plants. They travel a lot.

How about Lonicera semperviren? It's much prettier.

Lonicera semperviren is a great hummer plant and here in the northeast it blooms from spring right up to frost once it is established. Trumpet creeper is invasive and in the pnw I would think that it would be even more invasive due to your growing conditions. I have the Lonicera semperviren and pla to add at least one more next year if I can possibly find a place for it.

Thank you. Will plant Lonicera ciliosa in Medford, OR. After assesing Tree Tabacco I would suggest it's good in a pot. Doesn't need our full atention. Drought tolerant it's pretty & it's a survivor. I love that. I was born in S Cal.

Years ago I had 2 tree tobaccos about 6 to 8ft tall close to the house for protection. They bloomed into Dec. and stayed evergreen. I started seeds this fall-winter and now have 6 plants about 3ft tall & blooming. I have 2 in the ground, the rest in pots till I decide where to plant them. I'm also remove the seed pods(?) so that they will keep blooming and growing.
