Hummingbirds use spiderwebs for nesting material, so don't knock down the webs.

When I brush out my dogs, I toss the excess fur out on to the lawn for the birds.

And sometimes the birds will steal things for nest materials that I don't want them to steal. I had outlined some new beds with string...and birds stole it twice.

Like Joe I brush my dog and then I put his hair in the wire suet cages since I only put out suet cakes in winter. I hang the cages over in bushes where the birds can see them. Last year the hummers used it a lot. I could watch them from the kitchen window flying over to the cage and pulling out the dog hair...very cool!
