Yes, I have one and there are pros and cons. I have a portsmouth birdbath from QVC. I have been running mine for a month and a half. It suggest you use only distilled water which I do. I have no algae and I dont add anything to it although other people do. But this birdbath will only work when then sun is out, it does not store energy like your night lights do. Pass your hand over it or stand in front of it it will stop and then come right back on when you move. On cloudy days forget it, the sun has to be shining bright. Maybe there are others out there that work differently. Toward sundown the bath will go down to trickle. My bath water still looks like the video and I have done nothing or added nothing to it but distilled water. I got mine for $87 at QVC. You might find the same or simlilar one elsewhere cheaper.

Do the birds actually use your bath when it's running? I have a solar fountain that I bought from Gardner's Supply, but I have never seen a bird use it when it is running. Earlier in the season I had the solar apparatus out and the hole-cover in and the birds used it all the time, but now, with the solar thing in place - no birds.

All I can say is weve had a cool spring , I think it needs to warm up considerably before any birds will use it. When we had the warm spell a while back I saw wasps use it.

I have a solar birdbath and it only runs the fountain when the sun is shining on it. I have seen birds in it, though not hummers. You have to handle the solar panel carefully and make sure you bring the whole thing in when it gets cold out. I'm happy with mine.
