Put lots of red stuff out. Cars, trucks, 4wheelers, golf carts, chairs, etc. I know they might look a bit tacky; but if you want hummers,you need lots of red out. No dye in feeders! Get another feeder and put just 4 to 8 oz in each till they start coming. Red will get them to stop and the feeders will get them to stay. It is hard to get lots of birds with one feeder. 4-1 mix and if it has been out more than 3 days check it or change it.

It's been a strange year here weatherwise and the hummers are either very late or not coming. I keep hoping.

Don't give up, I heard one yesterday!

The early migrating group showed up at our feeders on time, stayed a while and went on. The ones that stayed in our area are now, I believe, nesting and raising their young. They don't show up at our feeders when they are raising their young, or at least not often. An occasional sighting of a male. Quick dash to the feeder of a lone female. I bet the hummers will be back to your feeder in a few weeks. Hope so anyway. Other than feeders, I have plants/flowers that hummers like. Flame Acanthus, several types of early blooming blue Salvias (the red salvia cardinalis which they LOVE is just beginning to come up in our area, not yet blooming), early blooming Gaillardia (Blanket Flowers) to mention a few.

Try adding another feeder, tie red ribbons around. Also find some good hummers plants at a local nursery and there are many different kinds that they will use.
