I found gallon pots of Black & Blue at Lowe's last week for 5.95 in the annuals section. They were in pots that said "premium annual" or something like that on the outside. You might want to try there.

I haven't had good luck so far growing Black & Blue from seed but some people have. I saved seeds from my silene regia last summer and had good luck with those. Both would need to be surface sowed. I used winter sowing and put a fine layer of vermiculite over the seeds to help keep them moist. I have lots of silene seedlings but they're still sooo tiny.

I saw hummingbirds going to my silene quite a bit last summer and it had a long bloom time, I think not as long as Black and Blue though. Both are very good hummingbird plants.

I'm kind of jealous of you, the Lowes and Home Depot buy me have had a pretty bland selection since they came to town.

Its a true blue thats hard to find in flowers, im anxious to see the hummers check it out.

Tall red salvias is something garden centers don't seem to stock anymore. Every tag i read says "10 to 12 inches tall;" but i like them over knee high and full of flowers.

My bareroot silenes i planted are already greening.

Maybe try a different Lowe's. They didn't have Black and Blue at the store near my house, i found them at a store on my way home from work, some 25 miles away. They had a ton of them!

'Black and Blue' isn't true blue. But it is a great hummer plant!

I am major jealous that you found B&B at Lowes. I checked the Lowes around here a couple of weeks ago and they didn't have it but I am going by there tomorrow afteronno so I will leave early and check them again. I paid &6.99 for a small 4 inch pot that will take forever to grow with the crazy weather we are having this year. My DH had to drive to a nursery 20 miles away just to get this one for me too.
