Sometimes it takes birds awhile to accept something new. I think it was three years before any of the birds here used the new bird bath. There are at least 85 birds living on my property, so you'd think a few of them would be more daring than others! I have never seen any of them bathe in the birdbath, but they do drink from it. They all like the garden sprinkler for bathing.

This is the first year we have had birds actually bathing in the bird bath. Here's a robin who was entertaining us. We've also had Blue Jays and a Baltimore Oriole bathing. Give them time...they will come eventually. We've lived here for six years and this is only the second year we've had Baltimore Orioles and we've put out jelly and oranges every year.

I was thinking of getting a water mister. Does the water get stale or get hot like a bird bath does? My guys bathed in my bird bath all the time. It was under a large butterfly bush and my neighbors cat would hide there. Moved it only 10 foot away in a clear spot. They only drink there now. It takes them awhile to accept new things, or changes. docgecko, they are great pics of your Robin. My girl just laid her first egg of her second brood.
