I would just assume they are using it and put less in and change it more often like every other day that's what I do. Sarah

I agree with Sarah. This year I am not filling my feeders up because it is a waste for me. I only put about a cup of nectar in each feeder. As it gets closer to their migration I will add more.

me, too. I've been filling 4 feeders from one 32oz batch.
I don't know how to tell for sure, but for comparison, I have at least 4 birds feeding here, and they don't drink enough to drop the level of the nectar enough to notice after 3 days. if your feeder is not dripping/leaking, and you don't have a bat, my guess is that you've got some activity. change that nectar often, keep watching, and keep us posted.

I am getting more visits, but no action at my feeder. They prefer the plants. The feeder level never goes down. I change my Hummzinger out every week and it is always the same as the last time I filled it. Of course, this style dosen't seem likely to lose much through evaporation.

Like Sarah, Stan, and mimidi, I am only using 6-8 ounces of nectar in my feeders. I empty, clean and refill the feeders every other day right now since it has been in the 90's. Even though it doesn't appear that the nectar is going down I do see them at the feeders so I know they are using them. I have seen them at the very break of dawn to just before dark.

Thanks everyone! This is a brand new all red feeder just got it last week and it doesn't seem to be leaking or going down anymore. And I've still seen no more activity but I'm changing it everyother day and even tied a red ribbon by the feeder to attact them. I even have my feeder next to my morning glory's. Does anyone think my dog could be scaring them off? She's not outside all day long only to go potty. Just a thought as to why. Thanks again christine (internetnut)

Dogs generally are not a dererrent. I have a black lab that is outside occasionally thruout the day.
