Even though the juvies beak is a bit shorter than the adults, their tongue extends beyond the beak and should have no problem reaching the nectar.

I opened up the pole barn and a hummer came in and flew around and checked everything out. He wanted to make sure there was no food in there. But he checked all the brightly colored items, hoping they were flowers. As fast as he entered he left. I think there eye sight is extremely good, well better than mine.

Thanks all! It's delightful to watch my hummer at the feeder. I think it is funny when it goes to two or more of the feeder openings in one visit. Still using the flowers too...love to watch it hovering.
