Well I certainly dont live in or near houston but isnt it funny how in some areas they only want flowers but in my yard they wont touch the flowers but fight like crazy over my feeders , have 3 out 2 window and one hanging on yard light. Ive noticed more rubys the last several days , believe they are moving. I have about 10 now compared to say 4 or 5 2 wks ago.

That is odd. I guess I just figure there is still a lot in bloom that they want to feed on. I actually thought about pulling up the zinnias since they are the tall kind and look really ragged, but I hate to lose the hummers all together.

I am sure once the full migrations gets going they will be fighting over the feeders.

I live in Montgomery Co. north of Houston and I saw my first ruby throat of the season this past Sat. It lit on a branch of a tree next to the lawn chair I was in.

Yay, great news strawberrygirl. It's just a matter of time before we have tons of them!!

They are definitely here and fighting over the feeders. This morning I had one male fighting off two females for both of my feeders. The fight has gone on all day and they are still zipping around this afternoon trying to get a sip of the nectar. I love this time of year!
