Don't know about standing water like a swimming pool, but my hummers love sprays of water. When I water the potted plants on my deck with a gentle spray or mist, the hummers love to fly under and thru the shower. Could you add a small water feature like a fountain nearby? Worst case, I don't see that a swimming pool would drive them off...

Thanks Rita that's good to hear...the pool has a waterfall/spill over and a bubbler...it will be interesting to see if that sparks new arial manuevers! In the past the main attraction, other than territory wars, has been my dog. I have an English Mastiff that, at 190 lbs, isn't exactly swift and the hummingbirds seem to really enjoy swooping over him.

LOL! I remember one spring when my sister visited with her golden lab. Both the seed and syrup feeders are on the deck. We kept the dog on the deck, too, during sunny days and the finches drove her crazy because they kept swooping down to pluck fur from her coat. I hope they were lining their nests with it, not just annoying and teasing her! On top of that the hummers would dip down and hover at nose-level to chit and scold....

(I like mastiffs... big but calm.)
