A certain percentage of them always seem to rot no matter what you do. I pot mine up in well draining soil. I water well when I plant and then only sporadically and not that much after that. I set mine on top of the fridge. They like it really warm. It still takes forever, like 2 months, for them to come up. About the time I'm about to chuck the whole thing in the garbage and just buy plants they seem to poke their noses up. Once it gets good and humid hot outside they take off. Good luck.

Thanks Marie,mine have been in the soil about 6 weeks. I just found a couple of points coming up.I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Do You put them in indirect light after they sprout? I have them in a well heated room in the basement. It's a make shift hot house. I start my seedlings in there every year. It has lots of light. I know they like shade, but what about indoors?

I put mine by a window that gets only a little sun. Faces west but I have a huge maple shading it and the eaves on my house are quite deep. I would think they'd like the basement hothouse. My challege this year is keeping my daughter's kittens from knocking everything off the shelf.
